Who are we
Disability Services Australia (DSA) is a respected not-for-profit organisation that provides essential community support, employment and training services to enhance the lives of people with a disability each year. DSA is an integral part of more than 50 communities and employs more than 1100 people. From our early beginnings back in 1956 we have grown to become an innovative organisation, developing and evolving personalised services that drive true inclusion. We are a professional and flexible organisation, fit for the exciting future we face as the Australian disability sector undergoes profound and fundamental change.
Our priority is supporting people to reach their full potential at home, at work and in their community life. Each year, we reaffirm our commitment to our purpose, ‘to enhance the lives of people with a disability’ and our vision, ‘to maximise opportunities for people with a disability to experience choice, inclusion and achievement’.
Self-direction for all people is our aspiration and we are on our way to realising this goal. What is important to each person and what is important for them governs the design of DSA’s service delivery. We strive to empower people with a disability to make their own decisions and exercise their highest level of self-determination with the support of their family and informal and formal community networks. People are at the heart of all we do. We support people to live a full life, exploring opportunities available to help each person achieve their goals, reach their potential and live their own independent and successful lives.
